Hazard Vulnerability Analysis

How to Conduct a Hazard Vulnerability Analysis to Determine the Threats to Your Organization

Virtual • Wednesday, 6/28/23 • 1 pm - 2 pm
Part 4 of the Emergency Preparedness Series

Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA) is a process used to identify potential hazards that can impact a community or an organization's operations. The analysis involves assessing the risks posed by natural, technological, or human-caused hazards. It is an essential component of emergency preparedness planning, enabling the identification of potential threats and areas of weakness. Through an HVA, organizations can develop plans for managing or mitigating the risks. This process includes identifying vulnerabilities, analyzing hazards, and assessing the likelihood and potential impact of each hazard. A well-executed HVA provides a comprehensive overview of potential hazards, enabling organizations to devise effective risk management strategies to ensure that they can continue to operate during and after an emergency.
